Inside Sales Engineer

What does the Inside Sales Engineer do?

The Inside Sales Engineer will execute prospecting activities and provide internal sales coverage for an assigned sales territory, in cooperation with the Fields Sales Engineer, Business Development Team and Regional Sales Manager

 

What are the essential functions for the position?

  • Prospects for potential new customers with the specific goal of turning them into sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts
  • Follows up active leads generated by marketing activities
  • Creates new opportunities by answering telephone and email inquiries  
  • Obtains initial information needed to make a business case for a new opportunity
  • Effectively understands and responds to customer objections
  • Obtains initial application information including, but not limited to process details and  general system configuration
  • Provides internal sales support
  • Creates quotes dedicated quote module or alternative specified method

 

What does it take to be a successful Inside Sales Engineer candidate?

  • Strong selling skills and abilities; from prospecting to closing sales
  • Technical understanding of motion control products and customer applications
  • Ability to clearly communicate with people at all levels of an organization; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent objection handling and negotiating abilities
  • Ability to organize and self-manage workload around defined project milestones including meeting Order and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) goals
  • Critical thinking and complex problem solving skills  
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Products  
  • Good organization skills; focused on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills; able to build relationships quickly

 

What are the minimum qualifications for the position?

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, from an accredited college or university
  • Two years of related experience and/or training, preferred
