You will be working with a diverse customer base spanning semiconductor and electronics manufacturers, aerospace and defense companies, medical device manufacturers, and leading research institutions among others.

Position Summary

Our sales engineers walk prospective customers through the buying process of our high value capital equipment and services. They guide them on the way to choosing the right equipment that meets their performance, budget, and delivery needs. Our channel partners are also a focal point for our sales team’s activity, and proactive work with them adds a lot of value to each sales territory. Additionally, our sales engineers work with the rest of the organization as the voice of the customer and greater market. 

The territory for this position is the Eastern half of the US. Travel within the extents of this territory is a requirement. 

Essential Functions

  • Secures orders for company products and services to meet forecast
  • Develops and maintains deep knowledge and relationships with customers, partner channels, and sales opportunities inside of the territory
  • Acts as the main point of contact for walking customers through their buying process
  • Conducts remote and face-to-face selling visits
  • Investigates and documents customer requirements for upcoming projects
  • Helps to compose and deliver quotes to current and prospective customers
  • Owns the customer relationship and accurately maintains CRM data
  • Seeks feedback on products and services and reports back to internal resources in an effort to maintain continuous company improvement

Additional Duties

  • Assists in negotiating Terms and Conditions, Non-Disclosure Agreements and Customer Credit Terms
  • Liaises between customer and factory to confirm delivery of customer orders
  • Assists inside support engineering staff with customer issues
  • Contributes to the planning of new products and product lines
  • As assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Consultative selling and problem solving skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of automation and metrology principles and concepts
  • Ability to determine a customer’s technical and commercial needs
  • Skilled at creating and managing a sales funnel and territory pipeline
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and prospective customers
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency utilizing Google Workspace office products (docs, sheets, presentations)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related sales experience 
  • Preferred to have a sales background in high value capital equipment 
  • Preferred to have hands-on experience with metrology equipment
  • Able to travel 30-50% of the time, including by car or airline, as well as overnight
  • Must be located in the Eastern half of the US
    • Preference is to be located in Pittsburgh, and have the ability to be at our factory / head office when not traveling
