Position Summary:
The Inside Sales Engineer will proactively prospect with existing customers to offer spare and replacement parts, and value-added services in addition to processing incoming quotation requests. Some post-sales customer support will be required.
The focus of this position is developing a comprehensive understanding of Aerotech’s products and command of our ERP, CRM, and enterprise systems. Role requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and determine practical solutions for dealing with customer and internal related challenges.
What will your day look like? At Aerotech, you will:
- Proactively prospect spare and replacement parts, and value-added services by reviewing past customer lists and buying history; contact prospects via phone, email, social media
- Utilize CRM to maintain records and prospecting workflows
- Own assigned customer requests, including full responsibility from start to finish on a given engagement; respond to active inquiries in a timely manner and see through to resolution
- Develop a working knowledge of Aerotech’s products and inter-compatibility
- Examine product design drawings and BOMs to identify subcomponents of an assembly
- Calculate proper pricing of parts and services based on manufacturing costs, price lists, and previous sales
- Prepare high value parts and services quotations with clear scope of work utilizing application and system level documentation
- Promote remaining inventory of products nearing obsolescence to existing customers
- Monitor quotation pipeline and drive open opportunities to orders
- Interface with interdepartmental teams, including Engineering, Sales, Quality, Planning and Purchasing
- Provide technical support and guidance to Aerotech subsidiaries
- May prepare analysis and information for inclusion in reports
- As assigned
- Strong selling skills and abilities; from prospecting to closing sales
- Technical understanding of motion control products and customer applications
- Ability to effectively read Bill of Materials, engineering drawings, control plans, test procedures, and component inventory and allocation levels.
- Skilled at effective communication with customers, management, and colleagues
- Critical thinking and complex problem solving skills
- Knowledgeable in writing reports, business correspondence, and suggestions to procedure manuals
- Good organization skills and strong attention to details and accuracy
- Well-developed interpersonal skills; able to build relationships quickly
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field, from an accredited college or university
- Zero to three years of related professional experience or training; additional experience preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Ability to travel occasionally, short-term, domestically
