Business Development Manager

Pittsburgh, PA
Full Time
Peak Metrology
Manager/Supervisor

Peak Metrology is seeking a strategic, diplomatic, and highly organized Business Development & Partnership Manager to serve as an architect of our revenue ecosystem.

As we scale our automated metrology equipment in the semiconductor, medical device, and other precision manufacturing markets, we are moving beyond traditional direct sales. This role is designed to manage our global technology partnerships and spearhead our marketing and brand presence. This role also identifies market opportunities and drives lead generation that fuels our global sales team.

The ideal candidate is an "external influencer"—someone who can navigate complex partner organizations to ensure Peak Metrology is the preferred choice for integrated measurement solutions.

We are specialists in surface metrology equipment and processes. We are looking for people to join our team to help us grow. Our customer base consists of globally recognized technology companies, manufacturing firms and researchers.

Essential Functions and Definition of Success

By the end of the first year of being on the team, the accomplishments below are expected outcomes from this role.

1. Strategic Partnership Management (Global)

  • Top-Down Diplomacy: Be the primary point of contact for key technology partners to ensure alignment and collaborative growth. Our technology partners drive new projects to our sales team, and this role builds that relationship. Success means that we have no technology partners that are detractors, and the majority are promoters.
  • Joint Go-to-Market: Develop and execute co-marketing and co-selling initiatives with partners to generate high-value lead flow. Success means that your work with other companies drives the majority (>50%) of our new market opportunities.
  • Sales Engineering Support: Assist US Sales Engineers on high-level calls where partner integration or cross territory selling is required to close the deal. Success is measured when win rates on new business initiatives are within 50% of existing business initiatives.

2. Marketing & Brand Execution

  • Collateral Development: Take ownership of customer facing sales collateral, including technical data, case studies, and presentation decks. New collateral delivered on a monthly cadence is the measure of success.
  • Content Creation: Lead the production of marketing and sales content to demonstrate Peak’s technical superiority. New content delivered on a monthly cadence is the measure of success.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor competitors and customers to stay ahead of market trends. Connect disparate pieces of market information, make sense of it, and bring it back to the team for action. Uncovering market intelligence that drives our value proposition refinement on a monthly cadence is the measure of success.

3. Strategic Growth Support

  • Presidential Proxy: Represent the company at industry events and be the eyes in the market. Use this information to work with the leadership team, and help shape the company’s future growth strategy. Generating a new insight or idea during each leadership event is the mark of success.
  • Revenue Operations: Take accountability for meeting partnership driven lead generation goals. Ensuring that our global sales team maintains CRM integrity and that partnership leads are being followed up with responsiveness is the measure of success.

Additional Duties

  • Assist in negotiating contracts with partners and customers
  • Travel up to 30% to meet with our partners and customers. Largely across the US and Western European markets.
  • Contribute to the planning of new products and services using market insights
  • As assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5-7+ years in Business Development, Partner Management, or Customer Facing Engineering, or Technical Sales within the metrology, precision equipment, or industrial automation industries.
  • Education: Bachelor degree in a technical discipline or a bachelor degree in business from an accredited college or university. Technical degree preferred.
  • The "Secret Sauce": Proven ability to influence third-party organizations where you do not have direct authority. You know how to make Peak Metrology a priority for a partner's sales team.
  • Key Behavioral Traits: The innate desire to lead and influence, operate with a high sense of urgency, and to make detail driven decisions with decisiveness are critical to success in this role.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to understand and communicate metrology concepts (non-contact inspection, high-precision measurement).
  • Creative Aptitude: Experience with marketing tools for content creation is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing and diplomatic skills; able to navigate different corporate cultures (e.g., bridging the gap between US headquarters and European distribution offices).
  • Location: Work out of our headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Peak Metrology does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment
  • May be required to sit for extended periods of time
  • Frequent travel both domestically and internationally, is required
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
