Position Summary:

The Inside Sales Engineer serves as the face of Aerotech sales, managing high-potential inbound leads. They drive revenue from smaller, less complex deals and qualify larger opportunities for field sales. They also support new customer acquisition and existing account growth for deals below a set threshold.

Essential Functions

  • Follows up on marketing-generated leads to evaluate sales potential, managing directly or routing to the appropriate Field Sales Engineer based on established criteria.
  • Gathers and documents essential deal information in the CRM to support business case development and ensure proper assignment.
  • Manages relationships with inactive or low volume emerging accounts 
  • Prospects for potential new customers by researching and identifying potential accounts independently or based on specific targets generated by Aerotech’s Business Development team.
  • Effectively understands and responds to customer inquiries and objections
  • Provides sales support, including but not limited to answering specific product related questions, providing initial pricing on standard products, and lead time information for their assigned deals 
  • Reactivates dormant accounts through a proactive outreach 
  • Creates quotations through Aerotech’s dedicated quote module for individually generated deals, as well as deals generated by a Field Sales Engineer, as needed
Additional duties:
  • Investigates past customer's buying history; suggests related and new items, and explains technical features 
  • Maintains accurate CRM records for regional and account activities 
  • Remote sales coverage with associated responsibilities and assigned metrics for unoccupied sales territories.  Exact duties may vary depending on specific situations.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Strong selling skills and abilities, from prospecting to closing sales
  • Technical understanding of motion control products and customer applications
  • Able to clearly communicate with people at all levels of an organization; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of executing a structured qualification script to effectively assess inbound leads
  • Excellent objection handling and negotiation skills
  • Ability to organize and self-manage workload around defined project milestones, including meeting Order and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) goals
  • Ability to execute transactional sales in a timely manner 
  • Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Products
  • Good organization skills; focused on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills; able to build relationships quickly

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, from an accredited college or university
  • At least two years of related experience and/or training, preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to travel occasionally, short-term, domestically
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Should be willing to work in Pittsburgh and then can relocate to an open field location if needed 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.
