Controls Product Manager
Aerotech, Inc is currently hiring a Controls Product Manager to drive the Automation1 motion control platform strategy forward. As a Controls Product Manager, you will be responsible for identifying pervasive market problems, leading the development of solutions within the Automation1 motion control platform, marketing those solutions, and supporting Automation1 sales growth.

Position Summary:
The Controls Product Manager owns the complete product lifecycle of Aerotech’s Automation1 motion control platform, including the creation of new products, maintenance of existing products, and sunsetting of irrelevant products and complete product line P&L.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the complete product lifecycle (from inception to grave) of assigned products, including product revenue growth and profitability
- Develop product definitions and market requirements documents for new product and technology developments that are aligned with market needs and/or future market trends
- Own the product marketing plan and work with the marketing communications team to create product positioning, messaging, advertisements, campaigns, product data sheets, and other marketing collateral
- Work with sales and business development teams to create sales growth and sustaining revenue plans, including identifying new market opportunities and target customers within our markets
- Train sales and applications staff on products
- Create sales collateral such as playbooks and demos to help with the selling process
- Make recommendations to operations regarding product lead times and forecasted sales of units
- Lead regular status meetings with engineering development teams to review development progress, monitor adherence to a development schedule, and review changes in scope
- Perform product testing including user interaction testing and product performance testing
- Develop an understanding of competitive products and the automation and controls markets.
- Visit customers and trade shows on a global basis to understand market needs and help sales close strategic opportunities
- Create and maintain the pricing strategy for assigned products
- Author white papers and application notes; present at tradeshows and webinars on products and capabilities
- Analyze and keep up-to-date with market trends and competitive offerings and solutions.
- Act as a technology user expert — understand how our products are used and how they benefit current and future customers
Additional Duties:
- Travel internationally (~10-25%) to visit customers, conferences and events
- Travel to Pittsburgh, PA quarterly and when needed (if working remote)

- Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
- Communicates well (written and verbally) and frequently to the team and product stakeholders. Able to articulate the market problem that his/her product(s) are solving.
- Proven ability to drive outcomes and influence others. Effectively aligns engineering and other departments around common product goals and strategy.
- Is a well-respected resource and voice within Aerotech
- Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- High proficiency with spreadsheet-type math and applications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics) from an accredited college or university, required
- Master of Science (MS) in a related field and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA), preferred
- Minimum of three years of experience in the motion control or automation industry, required
- Experience with electrical hardware and software products
- Experience interacting with customers
- Experience in a product management or product ownership role in the motion control or automation industry preferred
- Currently living in or willing to relocate to the greater Pittsburgh or surrounding area is strongly preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Work is generally performed in an office environment
- May be required to sit for extended periods of time
- The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
