Position Summary:

The Inside Sales Engineer will execute prospecting activities and provide internal sales coverage for an assigned sales territory, in cooperation with the Fields Sales Engineer, Business Development Team and Regional Sales Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Prospects for potential new customers with the specific goal of turning them into sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts independently or based on specific targets generated by Aerotech’s Business Development team.  
  • Follows up on active leads generated by marketing activities and determines whether to handle directly or pass to the appropriate Field Sales Engineer based on predefined criteria
  • Obtains initial information needed to make a business case for a new opportunity including, but not limited to: the customer budget, customer need, decision making authority and timeline. Information required is in conjunction with Aerotech’s internal sales process. Uses this information in part to determine who will assume ownership of the incoming opportunity
  • Effectively understand and respond to customer inquiries and objections
  • Obtains initial application information including, but not limited to process details and general system configuration.  Uses this information in part to determine who will assume ownership of the incoming opportunity
  • Provides sales support including, but not limited to answering specific product related questions, providing initial pricing on standard products and lead time information for their designated opportunities 
  • Creates quotations through Aerotech’s dedicated quote module or alternative specified method both for individually generated opportunities, as well as, opportunities generated by a Field Sales Engineers, as needed
  • Proactively uncovers opportunities for spare and replacement parts by reviewing past customer lists.  Has sole ownership for these opportunities and potential orders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, from an accredited college or university, with a focus on mechatronics and/or robotics preferred
  • Zero to two years of related experience and/or training preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to travel occasionally, short-term, domestically 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.  Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position.  OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future. 
  • Should be willing to work in Pittsburgh and then can relocate to an open field location

As part of our engineer development program, your position will include work experiences (via short-term rotations) in related engineering roles (typically in different departments). Any such rotations will be arranged with your supervisor - aligning your interests with business needs as available.
