Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will support, plan, design, coordinate and improve the manufacturing processes of a wide array of high precision industrial and automation products.

Essential Functions

  • Design and develop new fixtures, test equipment and process improvements to increase the efficiency and reliability of the assembly or machining process
  • Hands-on assembly of electro-mechanical products, programming and operation of manufacturing equipment
  • Develop training methodology and assist with the technical training of production personnel
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis and resolution of problems that occur on the production floor
  • Provide manufacturing advice and guidance to engineering and manufacturing departments regarding product fabrication, assembly, and testing
  • Investigate and propose manufacturing improvement projects using engineering and business analytics
  • Develop and write new work instructions and procedures to document the proper manufacturing processes
  • Maintain and repair existing fixtures and associated documentation
  • Provide support and implementation of equipment upgrades and improvements 
  • Assist with the physical layouts of manufacturing cells and assembly areas, acquire information and prepare feasibility studies for purchase or building of new equipment
  • Provide timely and effective development of manufacturing standards and process specifications to secure achievement of manufacturing and cost objectives
  • Confer with workers in other departments such as sales, marketing, engineering and administration to provide technical information and implementation of operating procedures and to resolve system malfunctions
  • Determine parts supply, maintenance tasks, safety procedures, and service schedule required to maintain machines and equipment in prescribed condition

Additional Duties

  • Provide support and implementation of equipment upgrades and improvements
  • Assist with the physical layouts of manufacturing cells and assembly areas and acquires information and prepares feasibility studies or justifies purchase or building of new equipment
  • Provide timely and effective development of manufacturing standards and process specifications to secure achievement of manufacturing and cost objectives
  • Confer with workers in other departments such as sales, marketing, engineering and administration to provide technical information and implementation of operating procedures and to resolve system malfunctions
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field
  • As assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to mechanically design, layout and detail shop blueprints using Solidworks and/or Autocad programs
  • Skilled at using MATLAB, EXCEL, Word Processor and other computer programs to develop, record, report on, and analyze test data 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Effectively speak before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Skilled at applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering
  • Up to two years related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.
